Privacy Policy - TypeReady Browser Extension
Last updated: June 16, 2026
This privacy policy covers the TypeReady browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. In short: TypeReady collects no data, sends nothing anywhere, and stores only your own settings on your own device.
For the Forethought Studio website privacy policy, see forethought-studio.com/privacy.
1. What the extension does
TypeReady automatically moves the keyboard focus to a text field (such as a page's search box or first input) when you start typing, so you can skip the click and just type. It works across iframes and Shadow DOM. Everything it does happens locally inside your browser, on the page you are currently viewing.
2. Data we collect
None. TypeReady does not collect, record, store remotely, or transmit any personal data. Specifically, it does not:
- collect or log your keystrokes or anything you type;
- collect, read, or store the content of the pages you visit;
- track your browsing history or the websites you use;
- build a profile of you, or identify you in any way;
- use analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
There are no remote servers involved. The extension makes no network requests of any kind.
3. What is stored locally
TypeReady stores only your preferences: whether the extension is enabled, your per-site settings, and the option toggles you choose (for example, the keypress, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+A, slash-key, and "yield to other extensions' hotkeys" settings).
- These settings are saved using the browser's built-in extension storage (
chrome.storage/browser.storage). - They live on your own device. If you have your browser's profile sync turned on, your browser may sync them across your own devices through your browser account; they are never sent to Forethought Studio or any third party.
- Removing the extension removes these settings.
4. Permissions and why they are requested
TypeReady requests the minimum permissions needed to do its job:
storage: to save your settings, as described above.activeTabandtabs: to apply your focus preferences on the pages you use, and to keep the right settings active as you switch tabs.- Host access (running on the pages you visit): so the extension can find the appropriate input field and move focus to it when you start typing.
The extension reads the structure of a page only to locate the correct field to focus. It does not record, store, or transmit page content, form values, or anything you type. Reading happens in the moment, on your device, and nothing is retained.
5. Third parties
TypeReady includes no third-party services, SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or trackers. No data is shared with anyone because no data is collected in the first place.
6. Children's privacy
TypeReady is a general-purpose typing convenience tool. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this URL, with the "Last updated" date above reflecting the most recent change.
