These terms describe the conditions under which you may use the DropFormat website and the file conversion tools it provides. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.<\/p>\n
DropFormat is a free file conversion utility that runs in your web browser. It converts between the image and document formats listed on the site (for example HEIC to JPG, PNG to WebP). The conversion is performed locally in your browser using open-source libraries compiled to WebAssembly; the file you drop on the site is not uploaded to us.<\/p>\n
The site and the converter are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that conversion output will be byte-identical to any specific reference implementation, that the converter will operate without interruption or error, or that conversion of a particular file will succeed.<\/p>\n
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Forethought Studio, the operator of DropFormat, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or damages resulting from file corruption, conversion error, browser crash, or any other cause arising from your use of the site. Where liability cannot be excluded as a matter of law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the use of the site in the preceding twelve months, or (b) ten US dollars.<\/p>\n
You agree not to use DropFormat to:<\/p>\n
The site reserves the right to block IP ranges or implement other technical measures to enforce these restrictions.<\/p>\n
The DropFormat name and the site design are the property of Forethought Studio. The converter bundle is proprietary; the underlying WebAssembly decoders are used under their respective open-source licenses (notably libheif under LGPL).<\/p>\n
You retain all rights to the files you process through the converter. We do not claim any right, title, or interest in your files or the converted output. Because conversion happens entirely in your browser, your files are never visible to us in the first place.<\/p>\n
DropFormat is offered free of charge for the supported format pairs. We may add, modify, or remove format pairs over time. We may also introduce a paid tier with additional features; access to existing free conversions will not be retroactively removed. We may take the service offline temporarily for maintenance or permanently if we choose to discontinue it; we will make a best effort to provide advance notice for a permanent shutdown.<\/p>\n
The site may link to third-party sites for context or for additional services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or security of those sites. Linking to a third party does not constitute endorsement of that third party.<\/p>\n
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an update to the “last updated” line at the bottom of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change indicates acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, please discontinue use of the site.<\/p>\n
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Forethought Studio’s principal place of business. Any dispute arising from or related to your use of the site that cannot be resolved through good-faith communication will be resolved by binding arbitration or by courts of competent jurisdiction in that location, at our election.<\/p>\n
