Convert HEIC to WebP without uploading your photos
HEIC is great for iPhones. WebP is great for the web. Convert between them without sending the file to anyone.
HEIC photos from iPhones and iPads embed GPS coordinates, camera details, and timestamps. DropFormat strips all metadata during conversion. Your output file contains only pixel data.
The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The photo never leaves your computer. No signup, no upload, no tracking.
WebP files are typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, which makes them a sensible default for any photo you plan to upload to a website. If you’re going to email or print the photo instead, use JPG or PNG.
What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It produces smaller files than JPEG at the same quality, but many platforms outside the Apple ecosystem still do not support it natively.
What is WebP?
WebP is an image format developed by Google. It supports both lossy and lossless compression and typically produces files 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPEG at equivalent visual quality. Every modern browser supports WebP, making it the best format for images you plan to use on the web. For sharing via email or editing in desktop software, JPEG or PNG may be more universally compatible.
